BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's football team was effected for the third-consecutive day by rain.
The players reported for meetings were dismissed for field work and before they could get started the rains came. The team moved to the FAU Track Complex where they got in a full practice prior to the next band of rain.
"It was great to get the day in," said Howard Schnellenberger, FAU's head coach. "We are learning and getting better each day. David Kooi and Graham Wilbert (quarterbacks vying for the no. 2 spot) are both making strides."
Seniors Jeff Blanchard and Willie Floyd had drew praise in the run install portion of practice while Alfred Morris, the 2010 Sun Belt Conference rushing leader and preseason selection, ended the session with a nice run.
Team drills saw a wide open Rob Housler haul in a pass for a score and Damian Fortner take-off on a long run.
Defensively, the Owls continued to put pressure on the quarterbacks and defend the passes. Marcus Bartels batted a potential long pass away.
FAU's preseason practice work will continue 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, the first day in full pads.
The Owls will kick-off the 2010 season Thursday, September 2 at UAB. Season tickets as well as single-game tickets are on sale and can be purchased on line or by calling 1-866-FAU-OWLS.
