Shooting its lowest round of the season, the Florida Atlantic University men's golf team placed a strong second in the Bash at the Bash Invitational this weekend in Daytona Beach.
The Owls posted a 12-under-par 276 team score on Sunday to climb from fourth into the runner-up position, five strokes behind Webber International University in the seven-team field. FAU's four golfers had scores under par during the final 18 holes.
Sophomore Carl McCauley paced Florida Atlantic with two rounds of four-under-par 68 scores - tying his career-best score for an individual round set earlier this spring. McCauley's 136 total score was one stroke behind the tournament's first-place medalist honor.
Tying for 12th place were senior Ben Silverman and sophomore Michael Baskobich, with 143-sroke totals over the two days. Silverman posted a two-under-par 70 round on Sunday, while Baskovich shot a career-tying three-under-par 69 score.
Sophomore Justin Thompson had a career-best 69-stroke round on Sunday to finish in a tie for 15th place.
The Owls will now begin preparations for the Sun Belt Conference Championships on April 26-28 in Muscle Shoals, Ala.
