BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's football team got in an early day's work with meetings beginning at 10 and practice at 11 a.m. as the Owls completed the final day of practice prior to playing host to the University of Louisiana, 7 p.m., Saturday at Lockhart Stadium.
FAU spent Veteran's Day on the practice field and will salute the Arm Forces Saturday at the game. The FAU student-athletes who earned a 3.0 or higher g.p.a. also will be honored.
FAU began Thursday with goal line work and adjustments. They then worked the next 40 minutes on situations. Senior Jeff Blanchard had a nice run and later a catch. He also showed his leaping ability in the end zone but could not come down with a high pass. Treon Howard foiled the offenses' efforts in the two minute drill while Byron Hankerson had a catch for a big gain and true freshman Marcus Cunningham pulled in the touchdown pass that ended the session. The day ended much like all game-week Thursdays, with extra point and field goals. Senior Ross Gornall connected on both PATs then began the five yard moves following each pair of successful kicks. His final kick, a 57-yarder, was good.
Worthy of Note:
