Daytona Beach, Fla. - Shooting two of its best scores of the young fall season, the Florida Atlantic University women's golf team has put itself in good position heading into Sunday's final round of the Xavier Invitational at Daytona Beach. The Owls stand in a tie for fifth place in the 14-team field.
FAU entered the day in fourth place after shooting a 309 first-round score on Friday over the 6,084-yard, par-72 LPGA International course. The team came back with another strong performance with a 311 composite score during Saturday's second round. The team stands six strokes away from third place Xavier University, the tournament's host.
Sophomore Marilyne Cadieux leads the way for FAU with a ninth place tie at 151 strokes after 36 holes. She has carded rounds of 76 and 75. Senior Elisabetti Bertini also been a consistent performer with rounds of 76 and 77 to stand in a tie for 11th place with a 153 score.
Others contributing to the Owls' success has been senior Jennifer Norton, who has recorded two 79-stroke rounds; redshirt sophomore Anna Wiklund, who tallied a 78 during Friday's opening round; and senior Brooke McBoyle, who had two 80 rounds.
FAU will conclude play in the tournament during Sunday's final round, starting at 8 a.m.
