Boca Raton, Fla. - Looking for its first Sun Belt Conference victory, the Florida Atlantic University's football team started game preparations for Saturday's road match up against Arkansas State University. The game will be featured as the Sun Belt Network's Game of the Week and will air in Boca Raton on CSS at 1 p.m.
The Owls went through a productive practice on Tuesday that featured individual drills, seven-on-seven drills and scout team work. The practice concluded with special teams work.
The defense was able to create some turnovers throughout the seven-on-seven portion. Redshirt senior safety Ed Alexander shined with a pair of interceptions from passes that were over the middle. Alexander's second interception came on a crossing pattern. He stepped in front of the pass and returned it in the opposite direction for a touchdown. The defensive unit continued to make highlight-reel plays when redshirt junior defensive end Jamere Johnson providing a stand-up hit in the offensive backfield.
Offensively, redshirt senior quarterback Jeff Van Camp connected on a deep pattern in the end zone with senior wide receiver Lester Jean for a big gain during individual drills.
The team will return to the Tom Oxley Athletic Fields on Wednesday, October 20 at 3:30 p.m. All practices are open and free to the public.
