BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's incoming freshmen were introduced their first three-a-day practice on Friday. Saturday at 3:30 p.m. will mark their first scrimmage action.
The day opened with full pads and footwork, a heavy dose of it. The second practice saw the players gain relief by trading their practice pants for shorts but the noon heat was the warmest of preseason camp.
The third session was back to full pads where the focus was on blitz pickup. The defensive unit dominated most of the action and drew praise from Coach Schnellenberger after the day's final practice.
"The defense played well and responded well to what is going to be a series of tests,: said Schnellenberger.
Saturday will feature the first preseason scrimmage of a three-game slate, scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. on the Tom Oxley Practice Fields. All practices are free and open to the public.
Notes:
Friday marked the sixth day of practice for the Owls and the sixth day to have NFL scouts on hand.
