The Florida Atlantic University football team began the second full week of padded practice on Monday outside the Tom Oxley Athletic Center in the hottest weather they've competed in so far this spring.
The Owls worked on their normal indo and seven-on-seven drills prior to running blitz packages in team drills. FAU also practiced in first and 10 and long yardage situations. Early in team drills, Cortez Gent was on the receiving end of a couple of Rusty Smith passes. The second catch was a leaping grab along the sidelines. Kevin Cyrille also continued to perform well on defense. He got to the quarterback on one occasion and intercepted a Smith screen pass on the first play of first and ten drills.
The Owls return to practice on Wednesday, April 8 and Friday, April 10 at 3:30 p.m. on both days. FAU will hold their second scrimmage of the spring on Saturday, April 11 at 2 p.m.
The ninth annual FAU spring football game will take place on Saturday, April 18 on the Tom Oxley Practice fields, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton Campus at 4 p.m. FAU will hold their final scrimmage of the spring, and there will also be FAU merchandise, ticket information and concessions available at the event. The FAU dance team and Owsley the mascot will also make a special appearance. Admission and parking are free.
Tickets for the 2009 season are on sale. For more information, call 1-866-FAU-OWLS.
