BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University women's volleyball team will play in the UMKC Invitational this weekend in Kansas City, Missouri. Action for FAU begins on Friday, September 5 at 6 p.m. when they face Morgan State University. The Owls finish up the tournament on Saturday, September 6 when they play host University of Missouri-Kansas City at noon, followed by Samford University at 4 p.m.
The Owls won two of their three matches at the FAU Invitational last weekend, defeating Bethune-Cookman University and the University of North Florida before falling to the University of Northern Iowa.
This weekend's event marks a return to the home state of FAU setter Casey LaRocca. Larocca, FAU's all-time leading assist leader, attended high school at St. Joseph's Academy in St. Louis.
The Owls defeated Morgan State in 2004 in their only previous meeting. FAU leads the all-time series with Samford 5-3, the last matchup coming back to FAU in 2002. FAU and UMKC met back in 2006 with the Owls winning in four sets behind a then career-high 19 kills from Krystena Castro.
