The Florida Atlantic University football team began the final week of practices of the spring season on Monday. The team worked out in cooler than usual conditions outside of the Tom Oxley Athletic Center.
FAU performed both individual and team drills during the practice. Jason Harmon worked extensively with Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger on footwork and route-running from the tight end position during individual drills. Both the offensive and defensive units had their share of highlights during the extensive team drills, as the offense worked on plays run deep in their own territory. Corey Small got a hold of a deflected pass for an interception, and the defensive line, led by Josh Savidge and Jervonte Jackson, were able to put pressure on Rusty Smith. Smith did have a couple of highlights during today's practice, as he fired passes to Cortez Gent in stride. Backup quarterback also hit Chris Bonner on a well executed wideout screen.
FAU continues spring practice on Wednesday, April 16 at 3:30 p.m. outside the Tom Oxley Center. All practices are free and open to the public. On April 19, join the defending Sun Belt and New Orleans Bowl champion Owls for the eighth annual spring game at 2 p.m. at the FAU track and field complex. Enjoy a sneak preview of the Owls 2008 season, complete with an interactive area for the kids, memorabilia surplus sale, and a special appearance from the FAU cheerleaders and Owsley the mascot. Season tickets are on sale now for the 2008 regular season. They can be purchased by calling 1-866-FAU-OWLS or by logging on to www.fausports.com.
