After a short hiatus, the Florida Atlantic University football team returned to the practice field to prepare for Saturday's matchup with the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky University.
FAU worked on alleviating mistakes in today's session. The Owls worked on special teams early, with kickoff and punt returns the focus. On defense, FAU focused on stopping Western Kentucky's spread offense. Frantz Joseph worked with the first team, as he attempts to have his seventh straight game with double-digit tackles.
The Owl offense went through repetition both on inside drills and in the team workout. FAU focused on running the ball, with Charles Pierre practicing with the first team, Jeff Blanchard also received a number of reps. In team drills, the Owls worked against the blitz, and 1st and 10 play calls. Pierre was able to create space and get decent yards on his carries. Cortez Gent also caught a couple of passes.
FAU faces the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Saturday, October 18 at 7 p.m eastern. The game can be heard in south Florida on WFTL-AM 640 Fox Sports beginning at 6:45 p.m. The Owls return home to face the North Texas Mean Green on Saturday, November 8 at 4 p.m. at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
