Monday was the final practice for Florida Atlantic University before moving to full pads. After individual drills, FAU spent a portion of today's practice on the two minute drill and red zone packages. Also, the punters and punt returners got some extended work after the two and a half hour practice.
Afterwards, Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger was very pleased with how the day went. "They practiced better today on both sides of the ball," said Schnellenberger. "And it allowed us to gain progress running, passing, all aspects of it." Coach was also pleased with the second unit and how that group is progressing compared to years' past.
The Owls will practice in full pads for the first time this fall tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. and practice is open to the public. This Wednesday August 15th FAU will hold its first scrimmage of the year at 4:30 p.m. on the FAU practice field. Florida Atlantic kicks off its 2007 season against Sun-Belt co-champion Middle Tennessee State on Saturday, September 1st at 4 p.m. at Lockhart Stadium.
