The Florida Atlantic track team competed at the LSU Tiger Classic on Saturday.
Senior Yanique Booth had yet another automatic qualifying time in the 100-meter hurdles, her third of the outdoor season. Several other Owls came up just shy in their attempts to qualify for the NCAA East Regional. Trishauna Clarke missed an automatic qualifying time in the 100-meter dash by just .13 seconds, setting a personal record in the process. In the 200-meter dash, freshman Kerry Ann Stewart missed an automatic qualifying time by less than half a second.
The 4x100 meter relay posted a time of 46.13 seconds, less than half a second off the mark needed to automatically qualify for NCAA Regionals.
"We're getting faster and dropping time. We're running very well at this point in the season," Head Coach Alex Smolka said.
Friday at the Stanford Invitational, Friederike Feil set a school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, but came up short in her bid to qualify.
"Friederike didn't qualify in the event, but it's the first time she ran this particular race in more than a year" Smolka said. "It's not what we'd hoped for, but we're definitely on the right track."
The Owls will travel to Gainesville next weekend to compete in the prestigious Florida Relays.
