BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team will host Florida Gulf Coast University on Saturday.
The Owls lost their home opener to McNeese St. over the weekend when a late game rally came up just short. FAU (1-7) will seek its first home victory of the season over the Eagles (3-5). FGCU has three players averaging better than 11 points a game, led by Boca Raton native Casey Wolleb at 15 points a contest. The Eagles will be looking to knock off their second straight Sun Belt opponent, having defeated Florida International 73-70 over the weekend.
In spite of their record the Owls have played well through the early portion of the season, bolstered by the play of All-Sun Belt forward Carlos Monroe, who is averaging 16 points and almost 10 rebounds a game this year. FAU is also receiving a boost from the play of junior college transfer Carderro Nwoji, who is averaging almost five assists a contest to go along with 7.5 points.
Saturday's game will start at 7 p.m. The game will be carried live on WMEN-640AM. Single-game and season tickets are still available by calling 1-866-FAU-OWLS.
