Women's Soccer Faces Rival in Conference Finale

BOCA RATON, FL - After their final home weekend in which they scored nine goals and went 2-0-0 the Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team will finish its regular season by traveling to Miami to face in-state and conference rival Florida International.
The Owls (8-7-2, 5-4-1 Sun Belt) won both its matches over the weekend, defeating UALR 4-0 on Friday and downing Arkansas State 5-0 on Sunday. Seniors Alicia Tirelli and Susanna Lehtinen combined for 15 points (6G, 3A) over the weekend. Tirelli and Lehtinen have the focal points of the Owls' offense all season as both are among the top-10 in the Sun Belt in points and goals and Lehtinen is also tied for 5th in assists.
FAU is currently 6th in the conference headed into the final weekend. They could still fall to the 7th seed in the conference tournament if they lose to the Golden Panthers and UALR is able to defeat Arkansas St.
The Golden Panthers (3-10-3, 1-7-2) are led by freshman Claudia Cardenas who is first on the team in both goals and points.This year's Sun Belt Conference Soccer Tournament will be hosted by South Alabama in Mobile. Friday's match against Florida International will start at 7 p.m.
