BOCA RATON, FL -- SoccerBuzz Magazine announced that Florida Atlantic University women's soccer forward Susanna Lehtinen has been named to its National Elite Team of the Week for her efforts versus Miami and Stetson.
Lehtinen has already garnered Sun Belt player of the week honors for her four-goal weekend, including the double-overtime winner in a 2-1 victory over the previously unbeaten Hurricanes and a hat trick versus Hatters in a 4-0 FAU win. This is the second time she has been named to the Elite Team of the Week.
She was honored during the opening week of 2005 when she scored all three goals in a pair of Owl victories over Monmouth (2-0) and USF (1-0).
Lehtinen currently ranks among the top-10 among Sun Belt Conference players in shots per game (no. 7, 3.25), points (no. 4, eight), points per game (T-no. 2, 2.0), goals (no. 2, four), goals per game (no. 1, 1.0), and game-winning goals (no. 1, two).
The Owls (2-2-2) will face Mount St. Mary's on Friday at 5:30 p.m., and no. 1 Florida State on Sunday at noon. Both games are at FAU Field, located on the Boca Raton campus.
It is the first time in program history the Owls have hosted a team ranked no. 1.
