Owls Fight for Position at A-Sun Championships

CLERMONT, FL -- The Atlantic Sun Outdoor Track and Field Championship is underway in Clermont, FL at the National Training Center. Florida Atlantic University qualified five athletes in the 100m and 100m hurdles for Saturday's competition, while Myra Remaly scored two points for FAU on day one.
Remaly vaulted 8-11.75, good enough for a fifth place finish. Also shining on day one for FAU were Yanique Booth, who qualified for the finals in both the 100m and 100m hurdles. Also qualifying on day one were Marilyn Stephens and Malika Clary in the 100m and Lindsay Glover in the 100m hurdles.
The Owls finished day one tied for eighth.
There were very few finals on Friday, with preliminary races taking place most of the day. A-Sun individual champions were crowned in the 10,000m (Patrina Hayes, Kennesaw State), the pole vault (Kelly Bridges, Jacksonville), the hammer throw (Mecole Finch, Campbell) and the javelin (Emily Kohler, UNF).
The championship continues Saturday, starting with the discus and triple jump at 11:00 a.m.
