Owls Set to Host Pepsi-Cola Classic

BOCA RATON, FL - After a weekend of clouds and rain in Georgia, the Florida Atlantic University softball team will return to the Sunshine State and the friendly confines of FAU Softball Stadium this weekend.
The Owls lost two games at the NFCA Leadoff Classic on Friday, falling to no. 17 Nebraska 5-0 and SEC power Florida 9-1. All remaining games were cancelled due to inclement weather.
Florida Atlantic (4-8) will host Auburn (11-2) and Boston College (3-2) on Saturday and Sunday in the 2006 FAU Pepsi-Cola Classic. The action starts on Saturday at 12:00 noon and Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
Freshman Becky Brandies (Madison, Fla.) leads Florida Atlantic with a .389 average, while junior Shauna Corso is batting .364. Junior Mandie Fishback (Banks, Ore.) has three doubles and two triples with five RBIs and five runs scored.
The Owls will go against BC at 2:00 on Saturday and Auburn at 4:00. On Sunday Florida Atlantic and the Tigers take to the field at 12:00, followed by FAU's final game of the weekend against the Eagles.
