Boca Raton, FL - Florida Atlantic University women's basketball coach Chancellor Dugan has announced her first signing of the 2007-2008 recruiting class. Jaimie Givens, a 6'1 forward out of Orlando's The First Academy is the first Owl to sign her letter of intent to come to FAU.
"Jaimie Givens is the type of player who can change our program, "said Head Coach Chancellor Dugan. "This will solidify our quest to the Sun Belt Conference Championship and the national championship. Yes, I did say national championship. She brings state championship and an AAU national title with her. She is an all around player who makes everyone on her team better because she is on the court with them. Jamie is smart and her upside is incredible. She has not scratched the surface of what she can be. She comes from a great family of wonderful people. With those bloodlines how can you go wrong? I'm just so excited she has committed to our program."
Givens averaged 12.5 points-per-game and 6.4 rebounds a contest her junior season. She was the winner of the AAU National Championship with the Orlando Comets and a member of the Florida State 2A Championship team in 2006. Her father Jack Givens is known for his 41-point performance for Kentucky's 1978 NCAA basketball championship.
"The coaches made FAU feel like a home away from home to me, " said Jaimie Givens. "I'm excited and looking forward to playing there next season."
