Little Rock, AR -- Allyssa Eramo returned from injury to lead Florida Atlantic University to a 2-0 win over UALR in women's soccer on Friday in Little Rock, AR.
FAU (8-7-2, 5-4-0 SBC) held a 6-1 advantage in shot attempts after 45 minutes of play and Eramo made her return to the field in the 33rd minute.
Alicia Tirelli gave the Owls a 1-0 lead in the 65th minute when she fired a shot into the bottom left corner of the goal off a pass from Brittany Comer. Eramo was credited with a secondary assist.
Just seven minutes later, Eramo headed in a corner kick by Susanna Lehtinen for her first goal of the season. She had been one of the Owls' top performers before missing the last eight games. She returns just in time to give FAU a boost as it prepares for the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
Megan Coyne picked up her second solo shutout of the season, FAU's sixth. She made three saves, including a stop in the 87th minute to preserve the goose egg. She hasn't allowed a goal in 323:24 during FAU's four-game winning streak.
Because South Alabama (3-5-1 SBC) managed a tie with Louisiana-Lafayette (4-4-1 SBC), Florida Atlantic sits all alone in fifth place. It is the first tie in Sun Belt Conference play this season for any team. Western Kentucky (7-2-0) lost to North Texas (9-0-0 SBC) which keeps FAU's hopes alive for a fourth-place finish. WKU must lose to both Denver and Middle Tennessee in its final two matches of the season and FAU must win each of its last two matches, Sunday's game with Arkansas State and next week's match-up with Florida International.
Sunday's match with Arkansas State is scheduled for 2 p.m., eastern in Jonesboro, AR.
