BOCA RATON, FL -- Winners of six out of their last seven games, including four straight victories on the road, the Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team will enter this week in a first-place tie in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
FAU (9-8, 8-2 A-Sun) will host Kennesaw State on Wednesday, Feb.1 at 7:00 p.m. and will battle ETSU in a Saturday afternoon showdown on Feb. 4th at 2:00 p.m.
Shontavia Williams scored 23 points to help lift the Owls past KSU 71-58 on Jan. 14. Missy Glaser added 14 points and Demina Anderson deposited 10 points in the win.
The Owls of Kennesaw have not won since Jan.5 when they topped JU, 66-60. KSU (2-15, 2-9 A-Sun) has lost 13 out of its last 14 games, including eight straight entering Wednesday's game.
"Although Kennesaw doesn't have a great record right now, we are taking them very seriously and can not afford to look past them on Wednesday," head coach Chancellor Dugan said.
Saturday's tilt will feature two of the premiere teams in the league as ETSU (12-6, 8-3) invades FAU Arena for the first time. The Owls handed the Lady Bucs their first conference loss of the season on Jan. 12, 79-71 in the Memorial Center.
The conference's leading scorer and three-time Player of the Week winner, B.J. Banjo leads the Bucs with 20.7 points per game. FAU did an excellent job in the first match up by limiting her to just 13 points.
Glaser scored a season-high 19 points and Williams added 18 points in the first ever meeting between the schools. Cristal Randolph hit two-threes and finished with 10 points in the game.
