BOCA RATON, FL - After improving to 3-1 in the Atlantic Sun Conference with a 57-55 win over Stetson on Saturday evening, the Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team will hit the road this week to battle A-Sun newcomers East Tennessee State and Kennesaw State.
The Owls (4-7, 3-1) will travel to Johnson City, TN to match up with the Bucs (9-3, 5-0) on Thursday, Jan. 12 at 7:00 p.m. It will be the first-ever meeting between the schools, as ETSU is in its inaugural season a member of the Atlantic Sun.
Three-time Player of the Week winner, B.J. Banjo, leads the first-place Buccaneers with 21.2 points per game. Candace Gibson provides an inside presence with 14.2 points to go along with 8.5 rebounds per game.
"This is going to be one of the toughest tests we have had all season," head coach Chancellor Dugan said. "Not many teams have gone into their place (Memorial Center) and come out with win, but I am looking forward to that challenge."
Demina Anderson has been a factor in the paint for FAU over the last two tilts. She scored 11 points and ripped down seven rebounds versus Mercer on Jan. 2, and tied her season high with 14 points, while recording seven more boards in the Owls' victory over the Hatters.
The Owls will conclude the week with a Saturday afternoon showdown against Kennesaw State on Jan. 14 at 2:00 p.m. KSU (2-8, 2-3) and FAU will also meet for the first time in school history.
Shavonder Clarke leads the way for the Owls of KSU with 22.1 points per game and Danielle Bates contributes 11.9 points per game for Kennesaw.
