BOCA RATON, FL- With the start of classes today at Florida Atlantic University, the football team held only one practice this afternoon.
The offense looked very efficient under both Danny Embick and McKinson Souverain at quarterback. Tight end Demetrious Murray was their favorite target of the day. Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger said, "Demetrious brings added versatility to the club, as he can play both tight end and wide receiver." The 6-4, 210 pound Murray will provide another option for Coach Schnellenberger's offense.
Running back Charles Pierre broke off two long runs during drills and freshman wide out Chris Conner caught a forty-yard touchdown pass.
In the afternoon scrimmage, Corey Small picked off a pass to boost the defense.
With 12 days left until the Owls first game, Coach Schnellenberger was impressed with the teams intensity and felt they had a good practice.
The Owls plan to reschedule last Saturday's cancelled scrimmage for midweek.
Practice will be held tomorrow at 3:30 pm at Tom Oxley Athletics Field.
