BOCA RATON, FL - After picking up a two big conference victories, the Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team will begin the final stretch of the regular season this week.
With just four matches remaining, all of them conference games, it is important to the Owls that they finish strong. FAU currently sits atop the Atlantic Sun standings at 5-0-1, but Kennesaw State (5-1-0) and Campbell (4-1-0) are right behind them. Campbell's lone loss came at the hands of FAU last week.
This week Florida Atlantic will play a rare Wednesday game at Stetson (4 p.m. start), before traveling back to Boca Raton to face Mercer on an also unique Saturday game at 7 p.m.
The Owls (10-3-1) have reeled off nine games without a loss (8-0-1) after starting 2-3-0. All 10 victories have come via the shutout. They are on pace to break the school record for shutouts in a season (11, 2002), goals allowed (16 in 1992 and 2004), and goals allowed per game (0.83, 2003). FAU has 10 shutouts, has allowed just eight goals, and has a current goals/game average of 0.59.
