Question from Stephen Drapeau: Do you have any idea how much Hot Yoga can improve your athletes performance? I'm tryng to get a course stared at FAU targeting athletes and dancers. Please think about it. This is not a chanting class but one of the most physically rigorous workouts to date.
A: I cannot say that I am very familiar with Hot Yoga. However, I can say that in golf any activity that involves stretching can be beneficial. The best answer that I can give is that it would be something that I would be interested in looking into further to see what potential benefits it could provide to golfers.
Question from Pete Gillen: Will FAU ever get its own course like FSU? Are they looking into the possibility? And how has the team progressed in the last five years.
A: Unfortunately, FAU probably will not have its own golf course in the near future, due to the fact that it is not easy to find the amount of land you would need to build a golf course in Boca Raton. I believe there have been exploratory talks about buying a golf course, but at the time, I don't think it was financially feasible to do. It would obviously be great for the men's and women's golf teams along with the student body, if FAU had a golf course, but it is probably not very feasible. However, I do think it would be great if FAU could build a driving range/practice facility that would have designated practice area available for the golf teams, along with a driving range facility that would be open to the student body and faculty of the University.
As for our progress over the last five years, I cannot really comment because this is my first year as a head coach. Having played at FAU for four years, I think that the team is starting to progress. However, this year we did struggle as we had an extremely young team. I think that we have seen some other schools in our conference improve tremendously over the past five years, and I think that we can see the same thing at FAU if we are able to keep working to increase funding to be more in line with the top schools in the conference.
