Macon, GA - The Atlantic Sun Conference announced no. 70 Florida Atlantic University as the no. 3 seed in its conference tournament Tuesday afternoon in Macon, GA. The defending A-Sun champions were granted a first round bye and will play either Campbell University or Gardner-Webb University in the quarterfinals, 4:30 pm April 15, in Macon, GA. Matches will be played at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center. FAU is 15-5 and 2-1 in A-Sun Play.
Jacksonville University enters the tournament as the no. 1 seed, while UCF holds the no. 2 seed. The Lady Owls had its match with Jacksonville canceled earlier this year. FAU fell, 6-1, at UCF.
The Lady Owls have been tough of late especially at the top of their lineup. Alena Dvorakova, ranked no. 112 in singles, has won 18 consecutive matches at no. 1. Meanwhile her doubles partner, Karolina Roubickova, has reeled off nine straight wins at no. 2.
At no. 3, Veronika Koksova has won 10 of her last 12 matches.
The Lady Owls could miss the services of Tania Rivera, the typical no. 4 player, due to injury. That would mean Krystel Borg, Stephanie Beaulieu, and Katherine Bartnik would anchor the bottom half of the lineup. Borg is 9-4 in dual match play on the year, primarily at no. 5.
