Women’s Tennis Falls in American Championship

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic women's tennis team fell to in-state foe South Florida in the first round of the American Conference Championship Thursday afternoon in Houston, Texas.
The loss moves the #5 seed Owls to 8-9 on the year and the #12 seed USF to 6-12. FAU is now 10-7 all-time versus the Bulls and is 1-1 in 2026 after defeating USF, 4-2, back on March 1, 2026.

THE BEGINNING
Florida Atlantic got off to a hot start. The duo of No. 58 Panna Bartha / Katrin Pavkova held pace with a 6-4 win on court #1. On both courts #2 and #3, the Owls were up, but South Florida steadily chipped away at the lead and eventually took the match's first point with 7-6 wins on both courts.
THE MIDDLE
USF pushed the match to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 win on court #5. Katrin Pavkova was the first to put the Owls on the board with a 6-1, 6-2 win on court #3. USF moved it to 3-1 with a win on court #5. FAU's Panna Bartha captured court #1 by a 6-2, 6-2 score with courts #2 and #5 in play.

The Owls would drop both courts to USF, which will use the win to advance into Friday's quarterfinal.
