BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's men's tennis player Antonello Magris was named Atlantic Sun Player-of-the-Week Tuesday afternoon, as announced by the league office in Macon, GA. Magris, from Firenze, Italy, twice recorded the pivotal fourth point for the Owls in 4-3 wins. The sophomore has now run off six consecutive singles wins and has helped lead FAU to an 11-5 record. For the week, Magris and FAU went 4-0.
Magris picked up a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 win over Alexander Kasarov of Wisconsin on Wednesday and followed it up with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Georgia Southern's Doruk Baglan on Friday. After a 6-1, 6-2 win over Stanley Kahl of Navy on Saturday, the sophomore finished the week with a 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 win over Luka Bernard of New Orleans.
Magris also teamed up with Cristian Paiz to go 3-1 in doubles play for the Owls.
FAU takes the court next against Mercer, 10:00 am March 28, in Boca Raton, FL.
