Women's Basketball to Face A-Sun Champions

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University will take on the three-time defending Atlantic Sun Conference champions Saturday night when it hosts Georgia State University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00pm at FAU Gymnasium, and the game can be heard live on www.fausports.com.
Florida Atlantic enters the game 2-9 overall and 1-3 in the A-Sun. The Lady Owls are coming off of a 66-62 loss to Mercer on Thursday night. Senior forward Trineca McCleod leads FAU with 14.7 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. She is coming off a double-double against Stetson with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Shontavia Williams is second on the team with 10.4 points per game.
Georgia State comes into the game with a 7-4 overall record and leads the A-Sun at 4-0. GSU is one of two teams still without a loss as it leads Belmont by a half-game. The Lady Panthers have won three straight and five of their last seven. Most recently, GSU defeated UCF, 62-58, in overtime on Thursday in Orlando. Junior guard Patechia Hartman leads the team with 16.5 points per game. Monica Thomas is next with 10.9ppg.
Georgia State holds a 14-7 series edge. FAU won the only meeting last year, a 75-63 victory at FAU Gymnasium on February 8, 2003. The Lady Owls have split the last four games after GSU won five straight. FAU is 4-5 against GSU at FAU Gymnasium but has lost three of the past four.
