MACON, GA -- Florida Atlantic University will play its final regular season road game Saturday afternoon when it faces Mercer University in Macon, GA. The game begins at 2:00pm EST at Porter Gym and will be broadcast live on WLVJ 1040-AM.
FAU enters the game 12-12 overall and 10-3 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Mercer is 10-15 and 8-6 in the A-Sun. FAU is second in the A-Sun South, one game behind UCF, while Mercer is in fourth-place.
In the Lady Owls' last outing, freshman Shontavia Williams scored a game-high 17 points and FAU went 21-for-22 from the line in a 72-65 victory at Troy State on Thursday. The win vaulted FAU past Troy State into second place in the A-Sun South. Tamica Pierce added 16 points while Trineca McCleod had 10. Pierce continues to lead the team with 13.4 points per game.
Mercer is coming off an 80-76 loss to UCF on Thursday at home. The Bears have lost three straight games after winning eight straight. April Dyer leads the team with 11.7 points per game.
FAU trails the all-time series 14-11 but has won the past two meetings. Earlier this year, FAU came back from 10 points down with less than five minutes to go and escaped with a 77-76 win at FAU Gymnasium. FAU is just 2-8 at Mercer with one of those wins coming last year.
After the Mercer game, FAU returns home for its final two regular season games before beginning A-Sun Tournament play March 13 in Orlando.
