BOCA RATON, FL -- Florida Atlantic University will look for its first victory of the season when it hosts Florida International in its home opener Monday at 7:00pm at FAU Gymnasium. The Owls come in with an 0-2 record while the Golden Panthers are 2-2 on the year.
FAU last played November 25 at Georgia in a 99-84 loss. Mike Bell and Earnest Crumbley each led the Owls with 23 points. Bell leads the team with a 22.5ppg scoring average. Crumbley is second with 18.5ppg. Crumbley also moved into third-place on the all-time FAU scoring list in the Georgia game.
FIU is coming off an 81-72 victory over North Florida on Saturday. Carlos Morban has led the Golden Panthers in each of their last two games, scoring 27 in a loss at George Washington and 23 against UNF. Morban leads the team with 25.0ppg.
The game will be the first between the two teams since November 25, 2000, when FAU defeated FIU 86-81 in Miami. The last time the two played at FAU was January 24, 1998, when FIU was still a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference. FAU trails the all-time series 4-10 and is 2-3 at home.
