Macon, Ga. - Winning the Runner-of-the-Week award once wasn't enough for freshman Raynell Hagberg, so she did it again. As announced by the conference office this afternoon, Hagberg earned the Atlantic Sun award for the second time this year as she ran a personal best and the conferences' second best time of 19:04.73.
"I'm really excited, overjoyed and honored to win this award a second time," said Hagberg, a Stuart, Fla., native. "I'm expecting a lot more from myself to get even better and to run a better time, hopefully in the 18 minute range."
Hagberg ran her best time in route to her first career collegiate win at the 5k Flrunners.com Invitational and the second overall win for the women's cross-country team. She now has finished in the top-six in three of her four races this season.
After not having a Runner-of-the-Week in program history, FAU has now received the award twice in one season.
Florida Atlantic runs in their next meet Saturday, October 5th at the Florida Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.
