Track Completes First Day at A-Sun Championship

After the first day of competition at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, Florida Atlantic University women's track team stands in fourth place. Two individual fourth place finishes by Vicki Briggs led the Lady Owls in competition.
Briggs, a freshman from Jupiter, FL competed in the finals of the long jump and javelin. She earned her fourth place finishes with distances of 18' 4.5" and 35.68 meters, respectively. Her throw in the javelin was good for a season best. Nina Panebianco followed Briggs in the javelin with a fifth place showing with a distance of 34.77 meters, also a season best.
In prelims, Helenor Wilson advanced to the finals to be held tomorrow in the 400 meter dash and the 400 hurdles with a fifth and third place finish.
The Lady Owls placed three runners in the top-10 in the 100 meter dash. Daquia McCoy and Briggs advanced to the finals. Both runners crossed the line with times of 11.96 seconds.
The second day of competition begins at 8 am and continues through the afternoon.
