BOCA RATON, FL -
Three individuals have signed National Letters of Intent to play soccer at Florida Atlantic University, announced FAU's head women's soccer coach Brian Dooley. They include Janine Aylward, a midfielder from Levitttown, NY (Kellenburg Memorial HS), Sarah Baesler, a midfielder from Sarasota, FL (Sarasota HS), and Kari Kaiser, a defender from Bradenton, FL (Manatee HS),
Aylward was an all-league selection in both soccer and softball while leading her team to a second-place finish at the Catholic high school championship. As captain of her club team, the Oceanside Express, Aylward has led the team to over eight titles.
Baesler was a first-team all-area selection last season. As a four-year varsity team member, she was a State Cup finalist in 1999. For the past two seasons, Baesler was a member of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) team.
Kaiser was a most valuable player selection in 1999 and was named most valuable defensive player the previous two seasons. She also was named to the Florida Athletic Coaches Girls Soccer All-State team in 1999 while being named the Puma High School Soccer Tournament MVP. Her Under-18 team was a Florida State Cup semifinalist last season while making the finals the previous two years.
The three signees will help build upon FAU's most successful season. The Lady Owls advanced to the championship match of the TAAC Tournament for the first time last year while setting a team record with 14 victories. Dooley is entering his third season as FAU's head coach.
