Sam Dean joined the Florida Atlantic University athletics staff in March of 2022 as the assistant director of communications. He oversees communication efforts for men's soccer, baseball and both men’s and women’s golf.
Dean came to FAU from Missouri Baptist as the assistant director of athletics communications, a position he held since 2017. In that role, he served as the main contact for baseball, men’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s golf, as well as cheer, dance and stunt. He was also the Spartans’ play-by-play broadcaster for baseball, softball, soccer, women’s volleyball and lacrosse. In 2021, he was named the Scott Cummings American Midwest Conference Sports Information Director of the Year.
Along with his position at Missouri Baptist, Dean has worked with the St. Louis Blues (NHL), St. Louis Cardinals (MLB), Springfield Cardinals (Double A Baseball) and the River City Rascals, a member of the independent league.
He received his undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science in entertainment management, from Missouri State University in 2012. He was a four-year member of the university’s club ice hockey team. He then pursued and obtained a Master of Science in sports management from Missouri Baptist in 2017.
Dean was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and attended Christian Brothers College High School.
