Samantha Gatti joined the Florida Atlantic University athletics staff in the spring of 2022 as an athletic training fellow. Gatti will focus her work with the football team.
Gatti came to FAU after a stint, September 2020 through January 2022, with the New Jersey 87’s. The organization is committed to developing and producing student-athletes with aspirations of advancing to the collegiate level of hockey through a “hands on” approach from mites to juniors. She was responsible for administering immediate and postgame medical attention for both the EHL and EHLP teams. Along with the 87’s, Gatti worked as a personal trainer for Jersey Strong in Middletown, New Jersey.
Gatti also has gained valuable experience working the Eastern Hockey League Premier Frozen Finals Championship, the 11th Annual Sports Medicine Conference, the Philadelphia Half-Marathon/Emily Whitehead Foundation and with the Assisi House as a volunteer, as well as the Athletic Training Month for Good Morning America. Gatti has been an orthopedic surgery observer with the Springfield Hospital in Springfield, Pennsylvania as well.
Gatti has gained clinical experience working as a student trainer for the Malvern Preparatory School, in Malvern, Pennsylvania, with Villanova University, Premier Orthopedics, in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania and with the NAHL Titans in Middletown, New Jersey.
Gatti was a member of the Neumann University field and ice hockey teams, where she was a member of the 2020-21 ESLP Championship team. She was named to the Atlantic East Conference All-Academic Team, was a 2019 and 2020 Student Leadership Award Nominee, a Hubert Lee Athletic Training Award for Excellence in Athletic Training honoree and a member of the Dean’s List. She was a member of the Neumann Athletic Training Students Club from 2016-2020, serving as secretary from August of 2018-19 and as the club’s president from August of 2019-20. She also served as an academic recourse center turtor for the athletic training and health science courses.
Gatti graduated from Neumann University in Aston, Pennsylvania in May of 2020 with a bachelor's degree in athletic training along with a minor in strength and conditioning. She holds certifications with the National Athletic Training Association, the Eastern Athletic Training Association, Athletic Trainers’ Society of New Jersey, the American Red Cross (CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer) and as an American Red Cross First Aid provider.
