Walked on at the University of Miami in 1959, but was sidelined with a career-ending injury…played five sports at Tampa Jefferson and Miami Jackson High School…served with the 101^st Airborne Division, where he played for the Screaming Eagles on back-to-back Army National Championship teams…earned a scholarship to the University of Tampa, where he graduated in 1964 and played for Sam Bailey.
