MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Florida Atlantic baseball (17-18, 4-8 American) dropped Sunday's series finale with Memphis (11-23, 4-8 American) by an 11-6 final.

THE BEGINNING
After two scoreless innings to start the game, Memphis jumped on Owls' freshman Garrett Grant in the third. After retiring the first two batters of the frame, the Tigers tagged Grant for three singles and two home runs. The Owls made a call to the bullpen, and Memphis added two more runs via two hits and an FAU error. When the dust settled, it was 7-0 in favor of the home team.

The Owls chipped away with three runs in the fourth. Ian Collier led off with a home run, and John Martinez and TJ Gramesty contributed run-scoring hits to make it 7-3.

THE TURNING POINT
Just as the Owls were climbing back in the game, Memphis scored three more runs in the bottom of the fourth to reestablish a seven-run lead.

THE FINISH
Coller led off with a home run for the second straight inning in the fifth. He and Martinez singled home runs in the sixth to make it 10-6, but that would be as close as the Owls could get. Memphis tacked on one more solo homer in the eighth and retired the Owls in order in the ninth to salvage the series.

THE BATS

The Owls finished with 12 hits, led by three each by Collier and Martinez.
Collier's two home runs bring his season total up to seven.
Martinez recorded his fourth consecutive multi-hit game. He finished the weekend 8-for-15.

THE ARMS

Grant was charged with five runs on seven hits in 2.2 innings.
Dalton Robinson conceded two unearned runs.
Patrick Ward and Carson Kimball covered the final 4.1 innings and held the Tigers in check.
Ward tossed 1.1 scoreless. Kimball allowed one run on two hits in three innings.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Owls return home to face Florida Gulf Coast on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m.
