BOCA RATON, Fla. – Autumn Courtney, senior pitcher for the Florida Atlantic softball team, was awarded Amateur Athlete of the Year by the Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame on Sunday evening.
Courtney was announced as the winner among three finalists at the 49th Annual Palm Beach County Sport Hall of Fame Awards Celebration at the Palm Beach Kennel Club, beating out Keiser men's swimmer Isaiah Aleksenko and Lynn men's soccer player Dominik N'gaite. This marks the second straight year an Owl softball player has received the honor following
Trinity Schlotterbeck in 2025.
After arriving to FAU for the '25 campaign, Courtney became the fifth All-American in program history, finishing nationally ranked among the top 40 in ERA (2.03, No. 31), strikeouts (172, No. 31), and wins (24, No. 14), all while holding opposing batters to a .164 average. Her 24-4 record and 12 complete games guided the Owls to their second
-consecutive American Conference regular season title and NCAA Regional appearance. She also was unanimously voted as the league's Pitcher of the Year.
Her most notable performances over the past year include tossing 12 strikeouts while allowing just one hit against Kansas in her Owl debut, 13 strikeouts the following day versus Georgia State, yielding just one hit and allowing no earned runs in the Conference Semifinal against South Florida, and earning the victory with a seven strikeout performance in the NCAA Regional win over Georgia Tech.
Courtney continues to lead the Florida Atlantic pitching staff in 2026 with nine wins and 59 strikeouts.
