VanDeusen, Scanlon Named CUSA Pair of the Week

BOCA RATON, Fla. – No. 15 Florida Atlantic beach volleyball pair of Klaire VanDeusen and Mia Scanlon were named the Conference USA Pair of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday.

The honor marks the first for the Sandy Owls this season. It also marks the first career weekly honor for VanDeusen and Scanlon.

VanDeusen and Scanlon helped lead the Owls to a 3-1 weekend in the Chanticleer Challenge, earning three straight set wins over Tulane, Coastal Carolina, and Georgia State. The pair opened the week with a win over Tulane, capturing a straight set win at the 4s, 21-19, 21-15. The duo then capped off their first day of play with another straight set win at the 3s over Coastal Carolina, 21-14, 21-14. On Saturday, VanDeusen and Scanlon dropped a battle against No. 4 Cal Poly, before capping off the weekend with their third straight set victory on court three against Georgia State, 21-13, 21-15.

The Owls host the Florida Atlantic Beach Invitational this weekend on Saturday and Sunday, March 14-15 in Pompano Beach, Florida.
