Simonelli and Rowinska Named February Student-Athletes of the Month

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic Athletics has named its SafeGuard Impact Student-Athletes of the Month for February with men's swimming & diving's Rocco Simonelli and Malwina Rowinska from the women's tennis team receiving the honors.

The monthly awards are presented to a male and female Florida Atlantic student-athlete to recognize their excellence in the classroom. FAU's athletic academic staff votes on the award.

"Rocco has done an excellent job balancing the demands of being a collegiate athlete while staying fully committed to his academics. As a senior preparing to graduate with his bachelor's degree in accounting, he has consistently shown focus, determination, and a genuine desire to succeed in the classroom. That same dedication carries over to the pool, where his hard work was recognized with the Most Outstanding Men's Diver award at the 2026 ASUN Conference Championship. Rocco truly represents what it means to be a student-athlete," Caroline Lohan, Athletic Academic Advisor/Learning Specialist.

Malwina Rowinska - Women's Tennis
"It is a pleasure to nominate Malwina Rowinska for Student-Athlete of the Month. A member of the women's tennis team and a junior pursuing a degree in communication studies with a minor in Italian, Malwina has been a dedicated and reliable student-athlete since arriving at FAU in the fall of 2024. She consistently demonstrates excellence both in and out of season. Most recently, she has stepped into a leadership role on our Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, further exemplifying her commitment to serving others and strengthening our athletic community. Malwina is a confident individual and a joy to be around. Her passion for tennis and learning is evident in all that she does, making her exceptionally deserving of this recognition," Hannah Smith, Assistant Director of SASC.
