GREENSBORO N.C./ORLANDO Fla. – History was made on day of postseason for the Florida Atlantic men's and women's swimming and diving teams with three new school records, two conference champions, and swimmer

The men's team, currently sitting in second place after night one, earned multiple medals on the evening, including two Owls being crowned ASUN Conference champions. Laureyssens caught everyone's attention in the 50 free, earning the gold and qualifying for the NCAA Championships with a time of 19.43.
For the women, night one of the American Conference championships was highlighted by a school record performance by
Izzy Jones in the 50 free. At the conclusion, the Owls finished with 139 points.
QUICK HITS
Men
- The night began with the team of James Shevchenko, Jayden Repak, Rush Clark, and Leyton Roe swimming to a program record time in the 200 medley relay (1:26.14) and earning bronze.
- After finishing second in the 500 free last year, Shevchenko returned but this time was crowned conference champion, swimming 4:22.74.
- The Owls got points in the 500 free "B" final from Akant Durur and Gianni Carlino.
- John Reese Taylor finished sixth in the 200 IM "A" final (1:48.71).
- Laureyssens closed out night one in the 50 free swimming to a program record time of 19.43, earning himself a gold medal and becoming an automatic qualifier for NCAAs.
- Noah Reeves smashed his own 50 free freshman record in the "A" final with a time of 19.67.
Women
- Talitha McEwan got things started in the 500 free "A" final, swimming a time of 4:51.05, good for seventh place.
- Viktoria Sorensen and Cica Carvalho swam in the 500 "B" final, finishing 11th and 12th for the Owls.
- Ella Freeman and Presley Staretz both recorded personal bests in the 200 IM "C" final.
- In the team diving event, FAU scored a total of 215 points, finishing seventh.
- Jones, in the 50 free "A" final, closed night one finishing in fifth place, breaking her own school record with a time of 22.66.
ON DECK
The Owls will be back on Thursday for day two of competition with the ASUN championships beginning with prelims at 10 a.m., finals at 6 p.m. and the American championship prelims starting at 10:30 a.m., with finals beginning at 6 p.m. as well. Both meets will be televised on ESPN+.
