BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic softball team is back in Paradise, hosting the annual Joan Joyce Classic from Thursday, Feb. 19 to Sunday, Feb 22. On the docket at FAU Softball Stadium are matchups featuring Kansas, UMass, Southern Indiana, and Villanova.
First up on Thursday is the Owls (6-5) against the Jayhawks (7-4) with first pitch set for 6 p.m. All Florida Atlantic games will air on FAUSports.com, while neutral matchups are streaming on FloSports.
Joan Joyce, one of the most decorated women in sports history, was the pioneer of FAU's softball program and served as the head coach from its inception in 1995 until her passing in 2022. She is a member of 18 hall-of-fames with a career playing and coaching softball, golf, and basketball, among several other sports.
LAST TIME OUT
Florida Atlantic concluded a six-game road trip in the state of Florida, first at the Clearwater Invitational, facing three of the top five teams in the nation, and then a midweek matchup against Florida Gulf Coast. The Owls fell in their most recent contest to FGCU by a score of 3-2 on a two-RBI walk-off.
ABOUT THE OWLS
- Head Coach Jordan Clark is in her fourth season at the helm of the program and owns a 127-53 record. Clark and her assistants have received the American Conference Coaching Staff of the Year recognition in both 2024 and '25.
- Florida Atlantic was ranked No. 1 in the American Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Senior pitcher Autumn Courtney became the program's fifth All-American after winning the unanimous American Conference Pitcher of the Year. She opened the '26 season winning American Pitcher of the Week after recording two wins and a save against all three Big Ten opponents with 16 total strikeouts.
- In her debut weekend with the Owls, sophomore Lily Holtje recorded five hits, six walks, three doubles, a home run, and six RBI. She was awarded the season's first American Player of the Week and currently leads the team with 10 RBI.
- Senior third baseman Jesiana Mora is the reigning American Defensive Player of the Year and an All-Conference second team recipient. Through 11 games in the 2026 season, she leads the team in batting average (.471), hits (16), RBI (11), and home runs (two).
- Freshman pitcher Makenna Lee owns a 2-0 record with a 2.14 ERA and 12 strikeouts.
