Florida Atlantic Welcomes Rice Saturday

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic women's basketball team will wrap up its conference-opening homestand on Saturday, Jan. 3, hosting the Rice Owls for a 2 p.m. tip on ESPN+ at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.

A LOOK AT THE OWLS

Florida Atlantic enters Saturday's contest at 6-7 and 0-1 in American play after falling in its league-opener against North Texas.
As a team, the Owls currently rank in the top five in the American in several categories, ranking third in the league in bench points per game (26.0) and steals per game (10.4), fourth in 3-point attempts per game (22.3), and fifth in free throw attempts per game (18.5) and turnovers forced per game (18.6).
The Owls' offense is paced by Vivian Onugha and Destyne Jackson. Onugha has recorded a team-leading 9.7 points per game, while Jackson has scored a team second-best 8.6 points per contest.
Haley Walker and Onugha lead the Owls on the glass. Walker has collected a team-leading 6.8 rebounds per game, ranking 12th in the American, while Onugha ranks second on the team with 5.7 boards per contest.

Rice heads into Saturday's matchup at 11-3 and 1-0 in conference play. The Owls are on a six-game winning streak, including earning a 70-68 win over South Florida in their American opener.
The Rice Owls are led offensively by Dominique Ennis, Shelby Hayes, and Aniah Alexis, averaging 12.4, 11.3, and 10.3 points per game, respectively.
Ennis also leads Rice in steals, collecting 2.1 per game.
Hailey Adams leads Rice and the American on the boards, pulling down 150 rebounds this season, 10.7 rebounds per game. She also leads the league in blocks, recording a team-best 1.6 blocks per game, and paces Rice in assists, dishing out 3.4 assists per contest, which ranks seventh in the conference.

SERIES HISTORY

Rice leads the all-time series, 8-4, including a 4-3 record when playing in Boca Raton. However, FAU has won two of the last three meetings and is on a two-game winning streak when playing at the Elly.

The Owls dropped an 81-56 battle against the North Texas Mean Green on Tuesday, Dec. 30, to open up conference play.
Onugha and Jackson led the Owls, recording 14 and 11 points, respectively.
Walker collected a team-high eight rebounds.
Moors dished out a team-best five assists and tied for a team-leading two steals on the day.
Gewirtz finished with a team-best three blocks.
The Owls outshot the Mean Green 86.4 percent (19-of-22) to 73.3 percent (11-of-15) at the free throw line.
