No. 29 Owls Shun Superstitions to Earn 13th Win

NEW ORLEANS – The No. 29 Florida Atlantic women's tennis team showed no fear or superstitions of numbers, extending the program's longest winning streak to 13 with a 4-2 win over host Tulane on Friday afternoon.
With the "Big Easy" win, the Owls moved to 13-0 on the year and are the only undefeated NCAA Division I team remaining, while Tulane fell to 10-10. FAU will remain in New Orleans for a Saturday 1 p.m. EDT match versus Tulsa. Both matches in New Orleans are against fellow American Athletic Conference teams but do not count as an AAC win, with tennis playing under a championship scheduling format.
Florida Atlantic began the scoring with a 6-2 win on doubles' court three courtesy of Lexi Silna and Panna Bartha. Victoria Gomez O'Hayon and Millie-Mae Matthews won on court two to clinch the point for the south Florida visitors.
Silna moved to a perfect 10-0 on the season with a 6-2, 6-1 win on court five. Malwina Rowinska made it 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory on court four. The match was clinched by senior Millie-Mae Matthews with a 6-1, 7-6(7-5) court six win. It was Matthews' second high-intensity match-clinching victory this season.
