ORLANDO, Fla. – The
Florida Atlantic women's track & field team complete the first day of the UCF Knights Invite on Friday evening after competing in three events.
FAU started the evening with two runners (
Laura Kuhn and
Jordan O'Brien) in the 400-meter hurdles. Next on the docket for the Owls was the 200-meter dash, where
Camilla Nicholas,
Jada Bolhuis, and
Richelle Williams represented Florida Atlantic. Senior
Leah Helms represented FAU in the 1500-meter. To close out the day,
Andi VanMeter,
Kayla Groppe, and Grace Muller ran the 3000-meter.
- Kuhn placed 14th overall in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing with a 1:04.18.
- Right behind Kuhn was O'Brien with a time of 1:04.91 on the night.
- In the 200-meter dash, Nicholas finished within the top 25 with a 24.80.
- Bolhuis recorded a time of 25.33 to finish within the top 30 out of 59 runners in the 200-meter dash.
- The third Owl in the 200-meter was Sophomore Williams, who crossed the finish line at the 25.64 mark.
- Helms finished the 1500-meter with the fastest time of her career as she recorded a 4:43.17.
- For the first time in her career, Groppe ran the 3000-meter and finished with a 10:42.30 for a top 10 finish.
- VanMeter completed the 3000-meter run for the first time this outdoor season. She placed eighth overall for the first Owl to cross the finish line with a time of 10:36.20.
The Owls will return to the track on Saturday to complete day two in Orlando to close out the UCF Knights Invite. The Owls' first event is at 11 a.m.
