BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic baseball was held in check on Tuesday night in a 17-2 defeat at the hands of UCF. The Owls (27-13) conceded 14 hits and 12 walks as the Knights (23-17) won in seven innings.

THE BEGINNING

UCF tagged starter Dylan Oborne for four runs in the first inning to begin a long night for the Owls' pitching staff. John Schroeder answered with a solo home run in the bottom of the first before the Knights broke the game open with another four runs in the third.

TURNING POINT

UCF added on with six runs in the fourth. A two-out bases-loaded triple by Andrew Williamson was the big blow of the inning that made it 14-1 at the time.

The FAU offense could not keep pace, finishing with just five hits. UCF's Grant Siegel – buoyed by a large lead for most of the night – finished the seven-inning complete game with seven strikeouts and two walks.

THE BATS

Brando Leroux had the Owls' second RBI of the night – a two-out double in the seventh inning to score Kyle Boylston.
Schroeder's home run was his 10th of the season, tying Marshall Lipsey for the team lead.

THE ARMS

The Owls used eight pitchers – only Nick Wimberly and Steven Andrews registered full frames without allowing a run.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Owls will hit the road for Charlotte to start a three-game weekend series with the 49ers on Friday night at 6 p.m.
