SARASOTA, Fla. – Florida Atlantic men's golf begins play at the American Athletic Conference Championship on Monday. The event will consist of 54 holes of stroke play across three days at the Ritz-Carlton Members Club in Sarasota, Florida. The Owls enter their second AAC Championship fresh off a team victory at the Old Corkscrew Intercollegiate two weeks ago.

The Owls will keep the same starting five that has competed in the last two events. Sophomore
NaShawn Tyson leads the way. Tyson has finished first and second in the last two events. He is the reigning AAC Men's Golfer of the Week. The native of Stuart, Fla., leads the team with a 71.61 scoring average in nine events.

Florida Atlantic will be paired with Rice and ECU for Monday's opening round.

The Ritz-Carlton Members Club will play as a par-72 and measure approximately 7,292 yards. This is the first year the course has hosted the AAC Championship.Â

The field features 11 teams and 55 individuals. USF is the highest-ranked team in the field at No. 32. Florida Atlantic enters at No. 93. USF's Jake Peacock is the highest-ranked individual at No. 49. Tyson is No. 156 – up 373 spots since his victory at the UNCW Seahawk Intercollegiate on March 25.
