FORT MYERS, Fla.  – Florida Atlantic baseball fell to Florida Gulf Coast by a 3-2 final on Tuesday night. The Owls (19-6) had the bases loaded with no outs in a tie game in the top of the ninth but could not score. FGCU (9-16) responded with three hits in the bottom of the inning to secure the walk-off victory.

Runs were at a premium in the early innings. FGCU finally broke the deadlock in the fifth with a double followed by a single up the middle. The Owls immediately responded with a two-run home run off the bat of
John Schroeder in the sixth. Â Â

The Eagles tied the game in the eighth with a triple and a base hit through the left side. The Owls seemed primed to retake the lead in the ninth after two walks and then a bunt single by
Danny Baez, all with no outs. However, a strikeout, a pop out, and a ground out followed, and the game remained tied.

FGCU's Mac Moise led off the bottom of the ninth with a double and moved to third after a single to shallow right field. An intentional walk set up the force play before the Eagles' Vincent Samuel ended the game with a line drive off the center field wall. Â

- Schroeder singled in addition to his home run. He and John Martinez each finished 2-for-4.
- The Eagles out-hit the Owls 11-7.

- The Owls used six pitchers starting with freshman Joey Abbazia who tossed two scoreless innings.
- Zach Kilby was the first man out of the bullpen and contributed 2.2 scoreless frames.
- Ryan Buckler conceded a run on two hits before recording the last out of the fifth inning.
- Carter Holjes held FGCU scoreless in the sixth and seventh innings.
- Steven Andrews allowed a triple that led to a run in the eighth.
- Max Martzolf was charged with the loss to fall to 4-2.
