No. 27 Owls Tie Program-Best Start with Delaware Win

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 27 Florida Atlantic women's tennis team recorded a 6-1 victory over the visiting Delaware at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center on Sunday morning. The Owls remain undefeated and improve their season-opening winning streak to 11, which ties the program's record set by the previous season's squad.
Wins on doubles courts two and three earned FAU the match's first point in the clinch/playout format. The two teams moved into singles play where every match factored into the day's final score.
Malwina Rowinska was the first Owl to defeat her opponent with a 6-2, 6-1 victory. Points three and four were recorded by courts two and one, respectively, with Victoria Gomez O'Hayon clinching the victory on the top court with a win over Maryia Hrynashka, the nation's No. 94 ranked player.
FAU then added two additional points with a Lara Smejkal win on court three and a tiebreak win by Lexi Silna to give the Owls the 6-1 final and to move Silna's individual record to 9-0.
