No. 14 Beach Volleyball Beats Erskine, Falls to No. 16 Stetson on Saturday

DELAND, Fla. – The No. 14 Florida Atlantic Sandy Owls wrapped up play in the Stetson Beach Blast on Saturday, finishing 1-1 with a loss against No. 16 Stetson, 3-2, and beating Erskine, 5-0, for its third sweep this season.
Stetson jumped out to a 2-0 lead to open the first contest of the day, taking courts two and five. Julie Honzovicova and Ashleigh Adams got the Sandy Owls on the board with their first win as a pair this season, battling back to earn a reverse sweep at the No. 1 position, 15-21, 21-19, 15-11. Klaire VanDeusen and Mia Scanlon tied things up for Florida Atlantic, winning a three-set battle on court three, 20-22, 21-19, 16-14. However, the Sandy Owls couldn't close out the reverse sweep as the Hatters narrowly took the final court at the No. 4 position in three sets.
The Sandy Owls bounced back in their final match of the weekend, earning their third sweep of the season against Erskine. Cameron Knifton and Riley Baer won their first contest of the season as a pair, taking a dominant straight-set sweep on court five, 21-9, 21-4. Kate McLaughlin and Kendall Mignerey secured the second point for Florida Atlantic winning 21-9, 21-11 at the No. 3 position. Klaire VanDeusen and Kelsie Roberts clinched the match for the Sandy Owls, earning their first pair win of the season in a 21-15, 21-7 court two victory. Maddie Sides and Shayna Wolf picked up the Sandy Owls' fourth point at the No. 4 position, winning 21-8, 21-8. Julie Honzovicova and Reese Edwards closed out the sweep for Florida Atlantic, notching their first pair win of the season with a 21-13, 21-15 victory on court one.
